About Me

Artist
Anna Handy
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, I was fortunate enough to have a childhood brightened by all sorts of pets. I had cats by the armful, even a few adorable kitten litters, chickens, gerbils, guinea pigs and the odd stray dog that we adopted when an owner couldn't be found. I always held out hope for a puppy though, telling my Dad whenever I got the chance that "Someday we get a puppy!" Years later I finally got the puppy that I had always wanted, even better I got two! Dexter is a yellow lab, and the most faithful friend I could ever want, and Dee Dee is a black lab and golden retriever mix who has the most adorable habit of bringing you anything she finds on the floor in exchange for your love and approval (and yes, they are named after the cartoon show).
Art has been a part of my life for as long as animals have, and it is only fair that eventually they have become intertwined to create this site. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, achieving success with multiple awards for my paintings and a solo show at the Artist Alley HUB-Robeson Gallery. Not knowing quite where to go after graduation, I busied myself with painting portraits of my families' pets, and now here I am making it into a business!
My pets are the joy of my life and I am happy every time I am able to help an individual or family cherish their pet through a portrait. I believe that each animal has a different personality, as unique as any person. Dexter and Dee Dee are eight years old in reality, but they
will always be my puppies even when they are fourteen. I am inspired by them every day.
